As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be looking to support, maintain and enhance the SAGE ERP system responsible for fulfilment – a2r. This includes discovery, issue analysis, design solutioning and development working closely with an Agile team and business stakeholders.

You will work within an existing US/UK team working to develop products within our Software Engineering team. The role will be based from home and will have the ability to meet in our offices in London on rare occasions but we expect the individual to work remotely for the majority of the time.


In this role, you will

  • Implement enhancements and maintain the a2r application and its related components using VISTA 4GL running on an OpenVMS operating system.
  • Be a contributing member of the Order Processing and Fulfilment (OP&F) Agile team to focus on developing features and capabilities desired by the business.
  • Learn all facets of the publishing business related to OP&F like EDI, Pubeasy, Tax Computations, and Deferred Revenue as examples.
  • Establish positive relationships with other Agile team members.

Your Experience

  • A strong desire to learn and be open-minded
  • Experience in application development. Desire to learn the 4 GL programming language
  • Knowledge of Open VMS or UNIX
  • Experience with SQL programming language, sftp protocols, and scripting languages desirable.
  • Experience with VISTA 4GL is desirable.
  • Experience with the publishing industry specifically order fulfilment, warehouse management, account receivables, and subscription processing desirable.
  • Experience working in a telecommuting capacity as part of an Agile team is desirable.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable ability to independently prioritise and balance multiple activities and deadlines.
  • Superb communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and maintain a professional attitude.
